Full-Time Live In Nanny for Newborn: $100K+ and Benefits

Family living in Gold Coast of Chicago with newborn (baby due on February 19th) is seeking an educated, experienced, professional, engaging, and flexible full-time live in nanny. The schedule is 40 hours per week on five days (flexible to work varying combinations of days including weekends). Nanny is required to work overnights at residence in Chicago while parents are traveling, which is approximately 5-10 nights per year. Nanny is required to travel internationally to Europe approximately 2-4+ weeks every summer along with international and/or domestic travel approximately 2-4+ weeks during other months of the year. Extreme flexibility is required for the position. Candidates must be comfortable working with a small dog. Ideal candidate has experience working collaboratively with first time parents. Candidates are required to have at least 10+ years of full-time nanny experience (ideal candidate has experience working in high net worth semi-formal residence), experienced working collaboratively in fully staffed residences (e.g., private chef, housekeepers, nannies, etc.), passion for education and child development, extreme interest in heavy travel, active, assertive, proactive, resourceful, self starter, organized, detail oriented, hard working, service focused, kind, professional, ability to multi-task and wear many hats, respectful and capable of maintaining discretion. Vehicle is provided by family for nanny to drive with children. Family is open to local candidates or relocations. Start date is February 1, 2018.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Experienced working with similar aged children (newborns, toddlers, preschool, etc.)

• Experienced working with at least two+ children in a nanny position (family hopes to have more children in the future)

• Newborn experience and knowledgeable about routines, sleep training, reading and communicating to baby as often as possible, etc.

• Willing to transport children to and from school, scheduled activities, play dates, outings, etc. (when age appropriate)

• Experienced with meal planning and preparing fresh and healthy meals for child that introduces them to new foods and pureed baby food when age appropriate (family has full-time private chef, but some light meal preparation may be required)

• Willing to pack healthy lunches and prepare school bags for the next day (when age appropriate)

• Experienced with play-based learning and creating educational activities (e.g., planned engaging activities at home, developmentally appropriate games and activities, engaging projects and crafts, themed weeks, scheduled outings, etc.)

• Willing to assist children with homework and school projects (when age appropriate)

• Support teaching and reinforcement of manners and other social skills

• Provide developmentally appropriate games and activities, engaging projects and crafts at home and schedule/plan fun outings and events

• Responsible for domestic duties relating to children (e.g., stocking diapers/wipes/etc., washing bottles, washing dishes after meals, assistance with children’s laundry, tidying playroom and bedrooms, etc.)

• Responsible for organizational projects relating to children (e.g., changing clothing seasonally, rotating books and toys quarterly or bi-annually, taking toys and clothing to donation, etc.)

• Responsible for packing children for trips, researching/planning activities at destination and ensuring appropriate gear is available at hotel or rental property

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Capable of building good rapport with children

• Ability to travel internationally and domestically whenever necessary

• Highly organized, detail oriented, proactive, excellent time management, efficient and service focused

• Attentive to principals’ preferences and style (intuitive to their needs)

• Observant to the needs of family and home to anticipate their needs (e.g., finding and registering child for activities that are age appropriate, planning engaging activities at home, etc.).

• Ability to maintain discretion (confidentiality agreement is required)

• Ability to be discreet with respect for employer’s privacy

• Professional presentation of self and great personality

• Ability to easily take direction

• Strong ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with principals and domestic staff (candidates must be comfortable with principals that are around home often)

• Positive attitude and ability to handle position with ease and calm demeanor

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or Early Childhood Development is most ideal, but bachelor’s degree is required

• 10+ years of full-time consistent and recent nanny experience

• Bilingual in English and another language is ideal, but not required (e.g., Greek, Spanish, French, Italian)

• Greek candidates are highly appealing, but not required

• 3-4 references from professional positions

• Seeking longevity (e.g., 2-5+ year commitment)

• Ability to complete extensive background checks and drug tests

• Driver’s license and clean driving record

• CPR and First Aid certification

• Vaccinations (e.g., TDap, MMR, Flu shot)

• Comfortable with small dog

COMPENSATION:

• $100K+ gross salary (based on experience and qualifications)

• Health insurance

• Three weeks (15 days) paid vacation

• Discretionary annual bonus and raise (performance evaluation required)

• Living provided in separate condo in luxury building
