Full-Time Live Out/Live In Nanny for Infant: $70-100K and Benefits

River North • Chicago and Boca Raton, Florida, IL Full Time

Family with main residence in Boca Raton, Florida and another residence in River North of Chicago with two month old girl is seeking a professional, experienced and educated Full-Time Live Out/Live In Nanny. The schedule is 50-60 hours per week on five days (flexible to work varying combinations of days including weekends). Nanny will always receive two consecutive days off per week and monthly schedules will be made at least one to two months in advance. Family spends approximately six months per year in Florida and approximately six months per year in Chicago. Nanny is required to travel 2-4+ weeks during summer months to family’s residence in Harbor Springs, Michigan (weeks are sporadic throughout the summer). Nanny is required to travel internationally and domestically approximately 4-6+ weeks per year. Approximately 5-10+ overnights annually at residence are required when parents are traveling without child. Nanny should be comfortable working many days consecutively occasionally (e.g., if traveling for two+ weeks consecutively). Extreme flexibility is required for the position. Applicants need to be honest, trustworthy, understand the importance of maintaining discretion (confidentiality agreement is required), collaborative and experienced working with other domestic staff (part-time housekeepers) and experienced working with Principals that are at residences often (discreet and staying out of the way is important). Candidates bilingual in English and Italian is desirable, but not required. Family will provide vehicle for nanny in Chicago and Florida. Start date is beginning of April, but flexible for the right candidate.


• Newborn experience and knowledgeable about routines, sleep training, reading and communicating to baby as often as possible

• Experienced with play-based learning and creating educational activities (e.g., planned engaging activities at home, developmentally appropriate games and activities, engaging projects and crafts, themed weeks, scheduled outings, etc.)

• Knowledgeable about child development (e.g., firm when necessary and capable of teaching child manners and etiquette, but also capable of being laid back and fun)

• Support teaching and reinforcement of manners and other social skills

• Provide developmentally appropriate games and activities, engaging projects and crafts at home and schedule/plan fun outings and events

• Willing to assist children with homework and school projects (when age appropriate)

• Willing to make pureed baby food when age appropriate for infant

• Experienced with meal planning and preparing fresh and healthy meals for children that introduce them to new foods

• Willing to pack healthy lunches and prepare school bags for the next day (when age appropriate)

• Willing to transport children to and from school, scheduled activities, play dates, outings, etc. (when age appropriate)

• Responsible for domestic duties relating to children (e.g., washing dishes after meals, assistance with children’s laundry, tidying playroom and bedrooms, etc.)

• Responsible for organizational projects relating to children (e.g., taking toys and clothing to donation, changing clothing seasonally, rotating books and toys quarterly or bi-annually, etc.)

• Responsible for packing children for trips, researching/planning activities at destination and ensuring appropriate gear is available at hotel or vacation house

• Experienced working collaboratively with other household staff (e.g., part-time housekeepers)

• Diligent team player and comfortable wearing many hats while working alongside Principals


• Capable of building good rapport with children

• Experienced working with similar aged children (newborns, toddlers, preschool, etc.)

• Experienced working with at least three+ children in a nanny position (family will have more children in the future)

• Experienced working with stay-at-home mom and Principals that are around residences often

• Ability to travel internationally and domestically whenever necessary

• Highly organized, detail oriented, proactive, excellent time management, efficient and service focused

• Attentive to Principals’ preferences and style (intuitive to their needs)

• Observant to the needs of family and home to anticipate their needs (e.g., planning engaging activities at home, proactively planning activities for travel, etc.)

• Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or Early Childhood Development is most ideal, but bachelor’s degree is required

• 3-5+ years of full-time consistent and recent nanny experience

• 3-4 references from professional positions

• Bilingual in English and Italian is desirable, but not required

• Seeking longevity (e.g., 2-5+ year commitment)

• Live a close proximity to the family’s residence in River North of Chicago

• Ability to complete extensive background checks, motor vehicle checks, drug tests and psychological evaluation

• Driver’s license and clean driving record

• CPR and First Aid certification

• Vaccinations/Immunizations (e.g., TDap, MMR, Flu shot)

• Comfortable swimming (family has outdoor pool in Florida)


• $70-100K gross annual salary (based on background and experience)

• $100 per overnight net while working overnights traveling with family (excluding residences unless parents are traveling without child)

• Health insurance stipend

• Three weeks (15 days) paid vacation

• Discretionary annual bonus and raise (performance evaluation required)

• Living provided for nanny at Florida residence
