Full-Time Nanny: $65K+, Benefits, Living Provided

Family living in Lincoln Park of Chicago with 3.5 year old girl and 1.5 year old boy is seeking a professional, experienced and educated Full-Time Nanny. Schedule will be spilt between two full-time nannies to ensure the family has seven day per week coverage. Schedule will be 50+ hours per week on five out of seven days per week (including weekdays and weekends). Nanny will receive two consecutive days off per week. Family will ensure nanny has schedule approximately two to three months in advance, but flexibility is required with scheduling as last minute trips and events occasionally arise. Nanny should be comfortable working many days consecutively (e.g., if traveling for two+ weeks at a time only one nanny will travel with family). Approximately 6-8+ weeks of international and domestic travel per year is required and approximately 10-15+ overnights at residence annually are required when parents are traveling without children. Applicants need to be honest, trustworthy, understand the importance of maintaining discretion, collaborative and experienced working with other domestic staff (e.g., full-time nanny/house manager and full-time housekeeper) and experienced working with Principals that are at residence often (discreet and staying out of the way is important). Family has staff vehicle for transporting children. Family is open to local candidates and domestic relocations. This nanny position is the only domestic employee that receives furnished living provided in separate condo/apartment of residence (separate entrance from main residence). Start date is January or February 2019, but flexible for the right candidate. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Newborn experience and knowledgeable about routines, sleep training, reading and communicating to baby as often as possible 

• Experienced with play-based learning and creating educational activities (e.g., planned engaging activities at home, developmentally appropriate games and activities, engaging projects and crafts, themed weeks, scheduled outings, etc.)

• Knowledgeable about child development (e.g., firm when necessary and capable of teaching children manners and etiquette, but also capable of being laid back and fun) 

• Support teaching and reinforcement of manners and other social skills

• Provide developmentally appropriate games and activities, engaging projects and crafts at home and schedule/plan fun outings and events 

• Experienced with meal planning and preparing fresh and healthy meals for children that introduces them to new foods (Pureed baby food for infant when age appropriate) 

• Willing to transport children to scheduled activities, play dates, outings, etc.

• Domestic duties relating to children (e.g., washing bottles, stocking diapers/wipes/etc., washing dishes after meals, minimal assistance with children’s laundry, tidying playroom and bedroom, etc.)

• Organizational projects relating to children (e.g., taking toys and clothing to donation, changing clothing seasonally, rotating books and toys quarterly or bi-annually, etc.)

• Packing and unpacking children for trips, researching/planning activities at destination and ensuring appropriate gear is available at hotel or vacation homes 

• Experienced working collaboratively with other household staff (e.g., nanny/house manager, housekeeper, etc.) 

• Diligent team player and comfortable wearing many hats while working alongside domestic employees and Principals 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Capable of building good rapport with children 

• Passionate about child development and education

• Experienced working with similar aged children (newborns, toddlers, preschool, school aged, etc.) 

• Experienced working with at least three children in a nanny position (family may have another child in the future) 

• Ability to travel internationally and domestically whenever necessary 

• Highly organized, detail oriented, proactive, excellent time management, efficient and service focused

• Attentive to Principals’ preferences and style (intuitive to their needs)

• Observant to the needs of the family to anticipate their needs (e.g., planning engaging activities at home, proactively planning activities for travel, etc.) 

• Ability to maintain discretion (confidentiality agreement is required)

• Ability to be discreet with respect for employer’s privacy

• Professional presentation of self and great personality

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or Early Childhood Development is most ideal, but bachelor’s degree is required 

• 2-5+ years of full-time consistent and recent nanny experience (many years with minimal families is required) 

• 3-4 references from professional positions

• Seeking longevity (e.g., 2-5+ year commitment)

• Ability to complete extensive background checks, motor vehicle checks, drug tests and psychological evaluations 

• Driver’s license and clean driving record 

• CPR Certification 

• Vaccinations (e.g., TDap, MMR, Flu shot) 

COMPENSATION: 

• $65K+ gross annual salary (based on background and experience) 

• Overtime rate for hours worked over 50 hours per week 

• $150 per overnight gross (traveling with family and working overnights at residence) 

• $300+ per month gross health insurance stipend 

• Three weeks (15 days) paid vacation

• Discretionary annual bonus and raise (performance evaluation required) 

• Furnished living provided in separate condo/apartment of residence (separate entrance from main residence)
