Full-Time Nanny: $70K+ and Benefits

Hinsdale, IL Full Time

Family living in Hinsdale, Illinois with 12 months old daughter is seeking a professional, experienced and educated full-time nanny. The schedule is on two days per week at 6:30am – 6:30pm and three days per week at 6:30am – 4:30pm. Typically, at least one day per week will end at 2:30pm. Nanny is required to travel internationally and/or domestically approximately 4-6+ weeks per year and work overnights when parents are traveling without child approximately 1-2+ weeks annually. Flexibility is required for the position. Child is enrolled in preschool on Thursdays at 9:15am-2:00pm, which is a short driving distance from the family’s residence. Family has staff vehicle, so safe vehicle for transportation is not required. Nanny must be comfortable with two small dogs (Puggles). Part-Time Housekeeper works on Friday and dog walker works daily. Nanny must be warm, nurturing, assertive, proactive, organized, experienced with routines for children, creative and willing to plan weekly activities and outings, resourceful, kind, professional, respectful and willing to work collaboratively with principals. Candidates must have previous experience in similar full-time nanny position(s). Start date is ASAP, but flexible for the right candidate. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Experienced working with similar aged children (e.g., infants, toddlers, preschool, etc.) 

• Experienced working with at least two children in a nanny position (family hopes to have another child in the future) 

• Infant experience and knowledgeable about routines, sleep training, reading and language development 

• Transporting child to preschool, scheduled activities, play dates, outings, etc. 

• Experienced with meal planning and preparing fresh and healthy meals for child that introduce them to new foods (pureed baby food for infant in the future) 

• Experienced with play-based learning and creating educational activities (e.g., planned engaging activities at home, developmentally appropriate games and activities, engaging projects and crafts, themed weeks, scheduled outings, etc.)

• Assist child with homework and school projects (when age appropriate)

• Packing healthy lunches and preparing school bags for the next day (when age appropriate) 

• Domestic duties relating to child (e.g., washing dishes after meals, child’s laundry, tidying playroom and bedroom, inventory of child’s supplies and food, ordering supplies through Amazon/Instacart/etc. and/or running errands to purchase things, etc.)

• Organizational projects relating to child (e.g., taking toys and clothing to donation, changing clothing seasonally, rotating books and toys quarterly or bi-annually, etc.)

• Pack/unpack child for trips, research/plan activities at destination and ensure appropriate gear is available at hotel, resort or vacation house

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Passionate about education and child development 

• Capable of building good rapport with children 

• Knowledgeable about child development (e.g., firm when necessary and capable of teaching children manners and etiquette, but also capable of being laid back and fun) 

• Highly organized, detail oriented, proactive, excellent time management, efficient and service focused

• Observant to the needs of family and home to anticipate their needs (e.g., finding and registering child for activities that are age appropriate, planning engaging activities at home, etc.). 

• Ability to maintain discretion (confidentiality agreement is required)

• Ability to be discreet with respect for employer’s privacy

• Professional presentation of self and great personality 

• Ability to easily take direction 

• Strong ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with principals

• Positive attitude and ability to handle position with ease and calm demeanor

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or Early Childhood Development is most ideal, but bachelor’s degree is required 

• 2-5+ years of full-time consistent and recent nanny experience 

• 3-4 references from professional positions

• Seeking longevity (e.g., 2-5+ year commitment)

• Live a close proximity to family’s residence in Hinsdale

• Ability to complete extensive background checks, motor vehicle checks and drug tests 

• Driver’s license and clean driving record 

• CPR certification

• Vaccinations (e.g., TDap, MMR, Flu shot) 

• Comfortable with two small dogs 

COMPENSATION:

• $70K+ gross salary (based on experience and background)

• $300-500 per month gross health insurance stipend 

• $25 per hour net (cash) for hours worked over 50 hours per week

• $100 per overnight net (cash) while traveling with family and working overnights at residence 

• Two weeks (10 days) paid vacation

• Seven government holidays paid: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, day after Thanksgiving, Christmas 

• Discretionary annual bonus and raise (performance evaluation required)
