Full-Time Nanny for Infant: $60K and Benefits

Gold Coast • Chicago, IL Full Time

Family with main residence in Gold Coast of Chicago and another residence in Michigan with infant girl is seeking a professional and experienced Full-Time Nanny. The schedule is generally on Monday – Friday at 8:30am – 7:00/7:30pm with generally up to 55-60 hours per week required. The family will give nanny schedule one or two weeks in advance, so extreme flexibility is required for position. Nanny is required to travel internationally and domestically approximately 6-8+ weeks per year, which includes one week per quarter at residence in Michigan. Approximately 2-4+ weeks of overnights at residence are required annually when parents are traveling without child. Applicants need to be honest, trustworthy, understand the importance of maintaining discretion, and comfortable with small dog. Family will provide vehicle for nanny to transport child. Parking is limited in the neighborhood, so it is preferred that nanny takes public transportation to work daily. Family is only interested in local candidates. Start date is ASAP, but flexible for the right candidate. 


• Infant experience and knowledgeable about routines, sleep training, reading and communicating to baby as often as possible 

• Experienced with play-based learning and creating educational activities (e.g., planned engaging activities at home, developmentally appropriate games and activities, engaging projects and crafts, themed weeks, scheduled outings, etc.)

• Knowledgeable about child development (e.g., firm when necessary and capable of teaching child manners and etiquette, but also capable of being laid back and fun) 

• Support teaching and reinforcement of manners and other social skills

• Provide developmentally appropriate games and activities, engaging projects and crafts at home and schedule/plan fun outings and events 

• Willing to make pureed baby food when age appropriate for infant 

• Experienced with meal planning and preparing fresh and healthy meals for child that introduce them to new foods 

• Willing to transport child to scheduled activities, play dates, outings, etc. 

• Domestic duties relating to child (e.g., washing bottles, stocking inventory of diapers/wipes/etc., washing dishes after meals, child’s laundry, tidying playroom and bedroom, etc.)

• Organizational projects relating to child (e.g., taking toys and clothing to donation, changing clothing seasonally, rotating books and toys quarterly or bi-annually, etc.)

• Packing child for trips, researching/planning activities at destination and ensuring appropriate gear is available at hotel or vacation house 

• Diligent team player and comfortable wearing many hats while working alongside Principals 


• Capable of building good rapport with children 

• Experienced working with similar aged children (newborns, toddlers, preschool, etc.) 

• Experienced working with at least two+ children in nanny position (family will have more children in the future) 

• Ability to travel internationally and domestically whenever necessary 

• Highly organized, detail oriented, proactive, excellent time management, efficient and service focused

• Attentive to Principals’ preferences and style (intuitive to their needs)

• Observant to the needs of family to anticipate their needs (e.g., planning engaging activities at home, proactively planning activities for travel, etc.) 

• Ability to maintain discretion (confidentiality agreement is required)

• Ability to be discreet with respect for employer’s privacy

• Professional presentation of self and great personality

• Bachelor’s degree is desirable, but not required 

• 2-5+ years of full-time consistent and recent nanny experience 

• 2-3 references from professional positions

• Seeking longevity (e.g., 2-5+ year commitment)

• Live a close proximity to the family’s residence in Gold Coast 

• Ability to complete extensive background checks, motor vehicle checks and drug tests 

• Driver’s license and clean driving record 

• CPR Certification 

• Vaccinations (e.g., TDap, MMR, Flu shot) 

• Comfortable with small dog 


• $60K gross annual salary (based on background and experience) 

• $18 per hour net for hours worked over 50 hours per week

• $100 per overnight net while working overnights at residences 

• Additional compensation (Amount TBD) for overnights while traveling with family

• $250 per month gross health insurance stipend

• Two weeks (10 days) paid vacation

• Six government holidays paid (New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas)

• Discretionary annual bonus and raise (performance evaluation required)
