Full-Time Nanny for Infant: $65-70K and Benefits

Family living in Bucktown of Chicago with three month old boy is seeking a professional, experienced and educated full-time nanny. Schedule is on Monday – Friday at 7:30am – 6:30pm with guaranteed 50-60 hours per week. Nanny is required to work at least 1-2 later evenings per week. Extreme flexibility is required for the position, as both parents travel for work. Nanny will also be offered weekend shifts for overtime hours, if desirable but not required. Approximately 4-6+ weeks of domestic travel per year is required and approximately 2-5+ weeks of overnights at residence annually are required when parents are traveling without child. Nanny must be comfortable with Black Lab dog. Applicants need to be honest, trustworthy, understand the importance of maintaining discretion and collaborative to work with first time parents. Family is flexible regarding safe vehicle for transportation (if nanny does not have vehicle, family can provide if necessary in the future for transporting child). Part-Time Housekeeper works one day per week. Family is open to local candidates. Start date is beginning to middle of March 2019, but flexible for the right candidate. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Infant experience and knowledgeable about routines, sleep training, reading and communicating to baby as often as possible 

• Tracking daily and developmental milestones through app or paper/journal (e.g., tummy time, feedings, sleep, diaper changes, reading, etc.)

• Baby is already sleep trained, so nanny will need to follow specific sleep schedule and routines that have been implemented by night nurse and principals 

• Experienced with play-based learning and creating educational activities (e.g., planned engaging activities at home, developmentally appropriate games and activities, engaging projects and crafts, themed weeks, scheduled outings, etc.)

• Knowledgeable about child development (e.g., firm when necessary and capable of teaching child manners and etiquette, but also capable of being laid back and fun) 

• Support teaching and reinforcement of manners and other social skills

• Provide developmentally appropriate games and activities, engaging projects and crafts at home, schedule/plan fun outings and events, register child for age appropriate activities 

• Willing to make pureed baby food when age appropriate for infant 

• Experienced with meal planning and preparing fresh and healthy meals for child that introduces them to new foods 

• Willing to transport child to scheduled activities, play dates, outings, etc. (when age appropriate)

• Domestic duties relating to child (e.g., washing bottles, stocking diapers/wipes/etc., washing dishes after meals, child’s laundry, tidying playroom and bedroom, etc.)

• Organizational projects relating to child (e.g., suggesting developmentally appropriate toys, taking toys and clothing to donation, changing clothing seasonally, rotating books and toys quarterly or bi-annually, etc.)

• Packing and unpacking child for trips, researching/planning activities at destination and ensuring appropriate gear is available at hotel or vacation homes 

• Experienced and willing to be an extension of the parents collaborating and communicating frequently (previous experience working with principals that are around residence is ideal)

• Experienced working collaboratively with other household staff (part-time housekeeper) 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Capable of building good rapport with children 

• Passionate about child development and education

• Experienced working with similar aged children (newborns, toddlers, preschool, school aged, etc.) 

• Experienced working with at least two+ children in a nanny position (family hopes to have more children in the future) 

• Ability to travel domestically whenever necessary 

• Highly organized, detail oriented, proactive, excellent time management, efficient and service focused

• Attentive to principals’ preferences and style (intuitive to their needs)

• Observant to the needs of family and home to anticipate their needs (e.g., planning engaging activities at home, proactively planning activities for travel, etc.) 

• Ability to maintain discretion (confidentiality agreement is required)

• Ability to be discreet with respect for employer’s privacy

• Professional presentation of self and great personality 

• Ability to easily take direction

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or Early Childhood Development is most ideal, but bachelor’s degree is required 

• 2-5+ years of full-time consistent and recent nanny experience (many years with minimal families is required) 

• 3-4 references from professional positions

• Seeking longevity (e.g., 2-5+ year commitment)

• Live a close proximity to family’s residence in Bucktown of Chicago 

• Ability to complete extensive background checks, motor vehicle checks and drug tests 

• Driver’s license and clean driving record 

• CPR Certification 

• Vaccinations (e.g., TDap, MMR, Flu shot) 

• Comfortable with dog (Black Lab)

COMPENSATION: 

• $65-70K gross annual salary (based on background and experience) 

• $20 per hour net for hours worked over 60 hours per week

• $100 per overnight net (traveling with family and working overnights at residence) 

• $300-400 per month gross health insurance stipend 

• Two weeks (10 days) paid vacation

• Seven government holidays paid 

• Discretionary annual bonus and raise (performance evaluation required)
