Full-Time Nanny for Newborn: $60-75K and Benefits

Family living in Lakeview of Chicago with newborn boy is seeking an educated, experienced, professional, organized, and engaging full-time nanny. The schedule is on Monday – Friday at 7:00am – 5:00pm or 8:00am – 6:00pm. Flexibility is required to work occasional later evenings and weekends when parents have events, travel is required with family, etc. Nanny is required to work overnights at residence in Chicago while parents are traveling, which is approximately 2-4 nights per year. Approximately four to six weeks of international and/or domestic travel is required annually (family frequently travels to Maine where Mrs. is from). Candidates must be comfortable working with cats. Ideal candidate has experience working collaboratively with first time parents. Vehicle is provided by family for nanny to drive with child. Part-Time Housekeeper works three days per week. Start date is ASAP.


• Experienced working with similar aged children (newborns, toddlers, preschool, etc.)

• Experienced working with at least two+ children in a nanny position (family hopes to have more children in the future)

• Newborn experience and knowledgeable about routines, sleep training, reading and communicating to baby as often as possible, etc.

• Willing to transport children to and from school, scheduled activities, play dates, outings, etc. (when age appropriate)

• Experienced with meal planning and preparing fresh and healthy meals for child that introduces them to new foods (pureed baby food for infant when age appropriate)

• Willing to pack healthy lunches and prepare school bags for the next day (when age appropriate)

• Experienced with play-based learning and creating educational activities (e.g., planned engaging activities at home, developmentally appropriate games and activities, engaging projects and crafts, themed weeks, scheduled outings, etc.)

• Willing to assist children with homework and school projects (when age appropriate)

• Support teaching and reinforcement of manners and other social skills

• Provide developmentally appropriate games and activities, engaging projects and crafts at home and schedule/plan fun outings and events

• Responsible for domestic duties relating to children (e.g., stocking diapers/wipes/etc., washing bottles, washing dishes after meals, assistance with children’s laundry, tidying playroom and bedrooms, etc.)

• Responsible for organizational projects relating to children (e.g., changing clothing seasonally, rotating books and toys quarterly or bi-annually, taking toys and clothing to donation, etc.)

• Responsible for packing children for trips, researching/planning activities at destination and ensuring appropriate gear is available at hotel or vacation house

• Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or Early Childhood Development is most ideal, but bachelor’s degree is required

• 2-5+ years of full-time consistent and recent nanny experience

• 3-4 references from professional positions

• Seeking longevity (e.g., 2-5+ year commitment)

• Ability to complete extensive background checks and drug tests

• Driver’s license and clean driving record

• CPR and First Aid certification

• Vaccinations (e.g., TDap, MMR, Flu shot)

• Comfortable with cats


• $60-75K gross salary (based on experience and qualifications)

• $20 per hour net for overtime hours over 50 hours per week

• $100 per overnight net while working at residence and traveling with family

• Two weeks (10 days) paid vacation

• Seven government holidays paid: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, day after Thanksgiving, Christmas

• Discretionary annual bonus and raise (performance evaluation required)
