Full-Time Nanny for Newborn: $80-100K+ and Benefits

Gold Coast • Chicago, IL Full Time

Family living in Gold Coast of Chicago with baby boy due at end of March 2019 is seeking a professional, experienced and educated Full-Time Nanny. Schedule will be 45-50 hours per week on five out of seven days per week (including weekdays and weekends). Nanny will receive two consecutive days off per week. Family will ensure nanny has schedule approximately one to two months in advance, but flexibility is required with scheduling as last minute trips and events occasionally arise. Nanny should be comfortable working many days consecutively (e.g., if traveling for two+ weeks at a time). Approximately 4-6+ weeks of international and domestic travel per year is required and approximately 5-10+ overnights at residence annually are required when parents are traveling without child. Applicants need to be honest, trustworthy, understand the importance of maintaining discretion, comfortable with two Yellow Lab dogs, collaborative and experienced working with other domestic staff (e.g., housekeeper, night nurses, etc.), experienced working with stay-at-home mom and Principals that are at residence often (discreet and staying out of the way is important). Family has staff vehicle for transporting child. Night Nurses will be employed the first three or four months until baby is sleep trained. Part-Time Housekeeper works three days per week. Family is open to local candidates and domestic relocations. Parking is limited in the neighborhood, so it is preferred that nanny takes public transportation to work daily. Start date is March 2019 (flexibility required if baby is born early or late). 


• Newborn experience and knowledgeable about routines, sleep training, reading and communicating to baby as often as possible 

• Experienced with play-based learning and creating educational activities (e.g., planned engaging activities at home, developmentally appropriate games and activities, engaging projects and crafts, themed weeks, scheduled outings, etc.)

• Knowledgeable about child development (e.g., firm when necessary and capable of teaching child manners and etiquette, but also capable of being laid back and fun) 

• Support teaching and reinforcement of manners and other social skills

• Provide developmentally appropriate games and activities, engaging projects and crafts at home and schedule/plan fun outings and events 

• Willing to make pureed baby food when age appropriate for infant 

• Experienced with meal planning and preparing fresh and healthy meals for child that introduces them to new foods 

• Willing to transport child to scheduled activities, play dates, outings, etc. (when age appropriate)

• Domestic duties relating to child (e.g., washing bottles, stocking diapers/wipes/etc., washing dishes after meals, assistance with child’s laundry, tidying playroom and bedroom, etc.)

• Organizational projects relating to child (e.g., taking toys and clothing to donation, changing clothing seasonally, rotating books and toys quarterly or bi-annually, etc.)

• Packing and unpacking child for trips, researching/planning activities at destination and ensuring appropriate gear is available at hotel or vacation homes 

• Experienced working collaboratively with other household staff (e.g., housekeeper, night nurses, etc.) 

• Willing to walk dogs occasionally (when dog walker is not available) 

• Diligent team player and comfortable wearing many hats while working alongside Principals and stay-at-home mom 


• Capable of building good rapport with children 

• Passionate about child development and education

• Experienced working with similar aged children (newborns, toddlers, preschool, school aged, etc.) 

• Experienced working with at least two+ children in a nanny position (family will have more children in the future) 

• Ability to travel internationally and domestically whenever necessary 

• Highly organized, detail oriented, proactive, excellent time management, efficient and service focused

• Attentive to Principals’ preferences and style (intuitive to their needs)

• Observant to the needs of family and home to anticipate their needs (e.g., planning engaging activities at home, proactively planning activities for travel, etc.) 

• Ability to maintain discretion (confidentiality agreement is required)

• Ability to be discreet with respect for employer’s privacy

• Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or Early Childhood Development is most ideal, but bachelor’s degree is required 

• 2-5+ years of full-time consistent and recent nanny experience (many years with minimal families is required) 

• 3-4 references from professional positions

• Seeking longevity (e.g., 2-5+ year commitment)

• Live a close proximity to family’s residence in Gold Coast 

• Ability to complete extensive background checks, motor vehicle checks, drug tests and psychological evaluation 

• Driver’s license and clean driving record 

• CPR certification 

• Vaccinations (e.g., TDap, MMR, Flu shot) 

• Comfortable with dogs


• $80-100K+ gross annual salary (based on background and experience) 

• $150 per overnight gross (traveling with family and working overnights at residence) 

• $30 per hour gross for hours worked over 50 hours per week

• $400-500 per month gross health insurance stipend 

• Two weeks (10 days) paid vacation

• Seven government holidays paid 

• Discretionary annual bonus and raise (performance evaluation required)
