Full-Time Nanny for Teenagers: $65K+, Benefits, Living Provided

Family with main residence in Lincoln Park of Chicago with 11 and 13 year old boys and 15 and 16 year old girls is seeking an educated, professional, experienced, flexible and engaging full-time nanny. Schedule is on Monday – Friday at 12:00/1:00pm – 9:00/10:00pm. Schedule may shift to earlier start time during summer months and when children are home from school (e.g., breaks, holidays, closings for inclement weather, etc.). Extreme flexibility is required for the position. Nanny should be comfortable working many days consecutively (e.g., if traveling for two or more weeks at a time). Nanny is required to travel internationally and domestically approximately 2-4+ weeks per year and work overnights when parents are traveling without children approximately 2-3+ weeks annually. Family has other residences in Michigan, Florida and Utah. Children are enrolled in two schools, which are driving distance from the family’s residence. Family has staff vehicle, so safe vehicle for transportation is not required. Nanny must be comfortable with hypoallergenic dogs. Nanny must be collaborative to work with domestic staff (full-time nanny, full-time housekeeper, part-time nannies, tutors, etc.) and directly with principals on a daily basis (principals are at residence often), warm, nurturing, calm confidence and demeanor, assertive, proactive, resourceful, self starter, organized, detail oriented, hard working, service focused, kind, professional, ability to multi-task and wear many hats, respectful and capable of maintaining discretion. Family is open to local candidates and domestic relocations. Start date is ASAP, but flexible for the right candidate. 


• Nanny experience with at least four children of similar ages (e.g., tweens, teenagers, etc.) 

• Experienced with play-based learning and creating educational activities (e.g., planned engaging activities at home, developmentally appropriate games and activities, engaging projects and crafts, scheduled outings, etc.)

• Support teaching and reinforcement of manners and other social skills

• Provide developmentally appropriate games and activities, engaging projects and crafts at home and schedule/plan fun outings and events 

• Willing to transport children to and from scheduled activities, sports, play dates, outings, birthday parties, etc.

• Experienced with planning and preparing fresh and healthy meals (must be capable of following recipe at minimum)

• Domestic duties relating to children (e.g., washing dishes after meals, tidying playroom and bedroom, assistance with children’s laundry, packing and unpacking children for trips, etc.)

• Willing to assist with household tasks when principals are spending time with children 

• Diligent team player and willing to work collaboratively with principals and domestic employees (full-time nanny, full-time housekeeper, part-time nannies, tutors, etc.) 

• Experienced and willing to be an extension of the parents collaborating and communicating frequently (previous experience working with principals that are around residence often is ideal)

• Assistance with hypoallergenic dogs (e.g., letting them out, taking on walks, feeding, taking to vet and groomer, occasional dog sitting on weekends, etc.)

• Run errands as directed by principals (e.g., grocery store, pharmacy, dry cleaner, returns, etc.) 

• Willing to assist with day-to-day functioning of a busy family and household 


• Capable of building rapport with tween and teenage children 

• Ability to travel internationally and domestically whenever necessary

• Highly organized, detail oriented, proactive, excellent time management, efficient and service focused

• Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or Early Childhood Development is most ideal, but bachelor’s degree is required 

• Passionate about education, child development, etc.

• 2-5+ years of recent and consistent nanny experience with minimal families 

• 2-3+ references from domestic positions

• Seeking longevity (e.g., at least 2-5+ years commitment)

• Live a close proximity to the family’s residence in Lincoln Park of Chicago (if choosing not to live in coach house provided by family) 

• Ability to complete extensive background checks, motor vehicle checks and drug tests 

• Driver’s license and clean driving record 

• CPR certification 

• Comfortable with hypoallergenic dogs 


• $65K+ gross annual salary (45 hours per week) 

• Overtime rate for hours worked over 45 hours per week 

• $300-400 per month gross health insurance stipend

• Two weeks (10 days) paid vacation OR three weeks (15 days) paid vacation if vacation days overlap with family vacations

• Seven government holidays paid (New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, day after Thanksgiving, Christmas) 

• Discretionary annual bonus and raise (performance evaluation required)

• Living provided in coach house (if desirable to candidate)
