Full-Time Nanny/House Manager: $60K+ and Benefits

Family living in Lincoln Park of Chicago with 2 year old boy is seeking an educated, experienced, professional, organized, and engaging Full-Time Nanny/House Manager. Schedule will be on Monday – Thursday at 7:00am – 6:00pm and Friday at 7:00am – 2:00pm. Approximately two+ weeks of domestic and/or international travel per year is required (one week international and one week domestic). Approximately 24+ overnights are required annually (two per month) when parent is traveling for work. The position requires extreme flexibility as family’s schedule changes at various times in the year (e.g., school calendars, summer, travel, etc.). Child is enrolled in private preschool on Monday, Wednesday and Friday (Monday and Wednesday are full days and Friday is half day), which is a short driving distance from the family’s residence. Nanny/House Manager is required to assist with house management and family assistant responsibilities when child is at school and/or napping (e.g., healthy meal planning and preparation, running errands, registering child for activities, lesson planning, scheduling appointments and managing family calendar, packing and unpacking child from travel, assistance with managing weekend nanny and weekly cleaning service, scheduling contractors and vendors, servicing vehicles, organizational projects at residence, etc.). Single mother has an extremely demanding work schedule and career. Family recently relocated from east coast, so nanny that is knowledgeable about Chicago and everything it has to offer is most ideal. Nanny vehicle is provided by family for transporting child and running errands. Start date is ASAP, but flexible for the right candidate. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Experienced working with similar aged children (toddlers, preschool, school aged, etc.) 

• Experienced with play-based learning and creating educational activities (e.g., planned engaging activities at home, developmentally appropriate games and activities, engaging projects and crafts, themed weeks, scheduled outings, etc.)

• Provide developmentally appropriate games and activities, engaging projects and crafts at home and schedule/plan fun outings and events 

• Support teaching and reinforcement of manners and other social skills

• Willing to assist child with homework and school projects (when age appropriate) 

• Willing to transport child to and from school, scheduled activities, play dates, outings, etc.

• Experienced with meal planning and preparing fresh and healthy meals for child that introduce them to new foods 

• Willing to pack healthy lunches and prepare school bags for the next day (when age appropriate)

• Responsible for domestic duties relating to child (e.g., washing dishes after meals, tidying playroom and bedroom, child’s laundry, packing and unpacking for travel, etc.)

• Responsible for organizational projects (e.g., taking toys and clothing to donation, rotating child’s clothes seasonally, rotating books and toys quarterly or bi-annually, etc.)

• Responsible for house management and family assistant responsibilities when child is at school and/or napping (e.g., managing and overseeing family’s calendars, registering child for activities and summer camps, lesson planning, running errands for family and child, scheduling contractors and vendors, organizational projects at residence, meal planning, servicing vehicles, oversee household maintenance, etc.)

• Responsible for packing child for trips, researching/planning activities at destination and ensuring appropriate gear is available at hotel or resort 

• Diligent team player and willing to work collaboratively with weekend nanny, cleaning service and Principal

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Capable of building good rapport with children 

• Ability to travel internationally and domestically whenever necessary 

• Highly organized, detail oriented, proactive, excellent time management, efficient and service focused

• Attentive to Principal’s preferences and style (intuitive to their needs)

• Observant to the needs of family and home to anticipate their needs (e.g., finding and registering child for activities that are age appropriate, planning engaging activities at home, etc.). 

• Ability to maintain discretion (confidentiality agreement is required)

• Ability to be discreet with respect for employer’s privacy

• Professional presentation of self and great personality 

• Ability to easily take direction 

• Strong ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with Principal

• Positive attitude and ability to handle position with ease and calm demeanor

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or Early Childhood Development is most ideal, but bachelor’s degree is required 

• Passionate about education, child development, etc.

• 2-5+ years of full-time consistent and recent nanny experience 

• 3-4 references from professional positions

• Seeking longevity (e.g., 2-5+ year commitment)

• Live a close proximity to the family’s residence in Lincoln Park 

• Ability to complete extensive background checks, motor vehicle checks and drug tests 

• Driver’s license and clean driving record 

• CPR and First Aid certification 

COMPENSATION:

• $60K+ gross salary (based on experience and qualifications)

• $20 per hour net for hours worked over 51 hours per week 

• $100 per overnight net while working overnights at residence and traveling with family 

• $300 per month gross for health insurance stipend

• Two weeks (10 days) paid vacation 

• Seven government holidays paid: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, day after Thanksgiving, Christmas 

• Discretionary annual bonus and raise (performance evaluation required)
