Full-Time Nanny/House Manager: $70K+ and Benefits

Family living in Lincoln Park of Chicago with 3 and 5 year old boys and baby boy due in October is seeking an educated, experienced, professional, organized, meticulous and detail oriented full-time nanny/house manager to provide childcare and assistance for a busy family and household. The schedule is on Monday – Friday at 7:30am – 5:00/5:30pm, guaranteed 50+ hours per week. February and March are spent in Arizona annually. Nanny is required to work overnights at residence in Chicago while parents are traveling, which is approximately 10-15 nights per year. Flexibility is required to work occasional later evenings and weekends when parents have events, travel is required with family, etc. Approximately two to four weeks of international and/or domestic travel is required annually for the position (approximately two weeks are spent in Nantucket every summer). Ideal candidate has many years of nanny experience (multiple boys in previous positions is very appealing), experienced working collaboratively with a stay-at-home mom, comfortable working with large dog, assertive, pro active, resourceful, self starter, organized, detail oriented, hard working, service focused, kind, professional, ability to multi-task and wear many hats, respectful and capable of maintaining discretion (confidentiality agreement is required). Safe vehicle for transportation is required for position. Part-Time Housekeeper works three days per week. Children attend private schools in Chicago, which are a short drive from the family’s residence. Start date is July 24th.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Experienced working with similar aged children (newborns, toddlers, preschool, etc.)

• Experienced working with at least three children in a nanny position

• Newborn experience and knowledgeable about routines, sleep training, reading and communicating to baby as often as possible, etc.

• Willing to transport children to and from school, scheduled activities, play dates, outings, etc.

• Experienced with meal planning and preparing fresh and healthy meals for children that introduce them to new foods

• Willing to pack healthy lunches and prepare school bags for the next day

• Experienced with play-based learning and creating educational activities (e.g., planned engaging activities at home, developmentally appropriate games and activities, engaging projects and crafts, themed weeks, scheduled outings, etc.)

• Willing to assist children with homework and school projects (when age appropriate)

• Tutor children assisting with homework, school projects, studying for tests, etc. and keep parents informed of progress and needs (ensuring children are managing their assignment due dates, deadlines, etc. is important)

• Support teaching and reinforcement of manners and other social skills

• Provide developmentally appropriate games and activities, engaging projects and crafts at home and schedule/plan fun outings and events

• Responsible for domestic duties relating to children (e.g., washing dishes after meals, assistance with children’s laundry, tidying playroom and bedrooms, etc.)

• Responsible for organizational projects relating to children (e.g., taking toys and clothing to donation, changing clothing seasonally, rotating books and toys quarterly or bi-annually, etc.)

• Responsible for packing children for trips, researching/planning activities at destination and ensuring appropriate gear is available at hotel or vacation house

• Comfortable assisting with dog (e.g., walking, feeding, etc.)

• Experienced working collaboratively with other household staff

• Capable of building good rapport with similar aged children

• Ability to travel internationally and domestically whenever necessary

• Highly organized, detail oriented, proactive, excellent time management, efficient and service focused

• Attentive to principals’ preferences and style (intuitive to their needs)

• Observant to the needs of family and home to anticipate their needs

• Ability to maintain discretion (confidentiality agreement is required)

• Ability to be discreet with respect for employer’s privacy

• Professional presentation of self and great personality

• Ability to develop and maintain solid working relationships with service providers, contractors and vendors

• Ability to work collaboratively with and oversee projects

• Ability to easily take direction

• Resourceful and ability to find the best tickets for sporting events and shows, concerts, etc. (understanding that “no” isn’t an answer)

• Strong ability to communicate and collaborate efficiently with principals and household staff

• Strong technology skills and experienced working with Macintosh and PC

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or Early Childhood Development is most ideal, but bachelor’s degree is required

• 2-5+ years of full-time consistent and recent experience working domestically in similar position

• 3-4 references from professional positions

• Seeking longevity (e.g., 2-5+ year commitment)

• Ability to complete extensive background checks and drug tests

• Safe vehicle for transportation

• Driver’s license and clean driving record

COMPENSATION:

• $70K+ gross salary (based on experience and qualifications)

• $100 per overnight net while at main residence and traveling with family

• $20+ per hour net for hours worked over 50 hours per week

• Health insurance stipend, if desirable to candidate

• Three weeks (15 days) paid vacation

• Seven government holidays paid: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, day after Thanksgiving, Christmas

• Discretionary annual bonus and raise (performance evaluation required)
