Two Weekend Nannies for Teenagers: $25+ per hour

Lincoln Park • Chicago, IL Part Time

Family living in Lincoln Park of Chicago with 11 and 13 year old boys and 14 and 15 year old girls is seeking two educated, professional, reliable and engaging weekend nannies. Schedule is on Saturday and Sunday at morning through evening (and will be later into the evening often for parents to attend events). Candidate must be willing to travel with family to their residence in Michigan (occasionally leaving after work on Fridays). The number of weekends required per month will depend on the family’s schedule and travel, but nannies would each likely have at least one or two weekends off per month (two nannies will split weekends each month). Travel and occasional overnights may be required for position (weekends, holidays, school breaks, etc.), but only if nanny has flexibility with schedule. Flexibility with scheduling is required for the position. Safe vehicle for transportation is not required, as family will provide vehicle for transporting children to games, activities, events, etc. Candidates must be comfortable with hypoallergenic dogs. Applicants need to be honest, trustworthy, professional, willing to make at least two+ year commitment, collaborative and experienced working with Principals and other domestic employees. Start date is ASAP, but flexible for the right candidate. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Nanny experience with at least four children of similar ages (e.g., tweens, teenagers, etc.) 

• Experienced with play-based learning and creating educational activities (e.g., planned engaging activities at home, developmentally appropriate games and activities, engaging projects and crafts, scheduled outings, etc.)

• Support teaching and reinforcement of manners and other social skills

• Provide developmentally appropriate games and activities, engaging projects and crafts at home and schedule/plan fun outings and events 

• Willing to transport children to and from scheduled activities, sports, play dates, outings, birthday parties, etc.

• Experienced with planning and preparing fresh and healthy meals for children

• Responsible for domestic duties relating to children (e.g., washing dishes after meals, tidying playroom and bedroom, assistance with children’s laundry, packing children for trips, etc.)

• Willing to assist with household tasks when Principals are spending time with children 

• Diligent team player and willing to work collaboratively with Principals 

• Experienced and willing to be an extension of the parents collaborating and communicating frequently (previous experience working with Principals that are around residence is ideal)

• Assistance with hypoallergenic dogs (e.g., letting them out, taking on walks, feeding, taking to vet and groomer, etc.)

• Running errands as directed by Principals (e.g., grocery store, pharmacy, dry cleaner, returns, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Capable of building good rapport with children 

• Ability to travel domestically (only if nanny has flexibility with schedule and full-time nanny is using vacation days) 

• Highly organized, detail oriented, proactive, excellent time management, efficient and service focused

• Attentive to Principals’ preferences and style (intuitive to their needs)

• Observant to the needs of family and home to anticipate their needs 

• Ability to maintain discretion (confidentiality agreement is required)

• Ability to be discreet with respect for employer’s privacy

• Professional presentation of self and great personality 

• Ability to easily take direction 

• Strong ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with domestic staff and Principals

• Positive attitude and ability to handle position with ease and calm demeanor

• Active and fit

• Non-Smoker 

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or Early Childhood Development is most ideal, but bachelor’s degree is required 

• Passionate about education, child development, etc.

• 2-5+ years of consistent and recent nanny experience 

• 2-3 references from professional positions

• Seeking longevity (e.g., at least 2+ year commitment and ideally longer)

• Live a close proximity to the family’s residence in Lincoln Park of Chicago 

• Ability to complete extensive background checks, motor vehicle checks and drug tests 

• Driver’s license and clean driving record 

• CPR certification 

• Comfortable with hypoallergenic dogs 

COMPENSATION: 

• $25+ per hour net 

• $100 per overnight net while traveling or working overnights at family’s residences

• Discretionary annual bonus and raise (performance evaluation required)
